Lastly, one or two customers pointed out minor cleanliness issues at times, although many appreciate the overall tidy nature of the establishment.
Great cod, skin removed (hurrah! So not too greasy) and a cracking batter. A lovely genuine surprise as the seafront can usually be disappointing for fish and chips but not here! Reasonably priced freshly fried with a great batter and crispy but yielding chips. Thanks guys!
5 Stars – Possibly the Best Fish & Chips in England! Neptune’s Fish & Chips on the Southend seafront is an absolute gem — possibly the finest chippy in the whole country. The chips are beautifully golden and fluffy, the battered cod is cooked to perfection with a light, crispy coating, and the saveloy is a delightful, nostalgic treat. Don’t even get me started on the mushy peas — rich, flavorful, and just how they should be. The location is unbeatable, right on the seafront near the arcades, capturing that old-school English seaside charm. Sitting with a tray of Neptune’s finest, looking out over the water, is simply one of life’s great pleasures. A must-visit every time I’m in Southend!
Nice fish and chips when we ate there. Also had a sausage without batter - good. Service was good. Price was reasonable.
